Ghanaian youth face increasing threats from climate change, including rising temperatures, unpredictable rainfall, and coastal erosion. These environmental challenges disrupt agriculture, water access, and housing, leading to economic instability and forced migration. Simultaneously, a significant digital divide exists:
Approximately 2.6 million schoolchildren aged 6 to 17 lack access to ICT tools .
Moreover, 8 million Ghanaians aged 6 and above did not use the internet in the three months preceding the 2021 census, including 2.3 million youth aged 15 to 35 .
In rural areas, only 34 to 40 percent of individuals had internet connectivity between 2019 and 2022
These factors limit youth participation in the digital economy and hinder their ability to adapt to climate-related challenges.
